Adaptive riding, is a specialized activity tailored for individuals facing physical, cognitive, emotional, or developmental challenges.
This program not only enhances physical aspects like balance and coordination but also boosts emotional and psychological well-being by fostering confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of achievement.
For veterans, adaptive riding aids in physical rehabilitation, stress management, and building camaraderie.
Seniors benefit from the soothing horse movements, enhancing balance, mobility, and overall wellness.
Individuals with autism find sensory stimulation and emotional connections with horses, improving communication skills and social interactions.
Those with behavioral issues experience transformation through the structured environment, horse bonding, and instructor interaction, leading to improved focus, self-regulation, and emotional control. The rhythmic horse movement calms individuals with behavioral challenges, promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety.

How we are making an impact
-
Hannah Althoff was diagnosed with Autism and receptive and expressive language disorder at age 2. She began riding with Inspiration Stables at the age of 4. Hannah found joy in trotting and being high up in the wind. Her parents expressed that therapeutic horse riding once a week took the place of a multitude of private therapies. Since that time Hannah and the program have grown and now she rides in the same Adaptive Riding program once a week but she also loves the new Sensory Trail program and also does that once a week. Hannah's siblings are very loving and protective of their dear sister but do have struggles with confidence and anxiety. Inspiration Stables' new director opened the program up to ADHD which allowed Hannah's twin brother, Henry to participate in Adaptive Riding, he immediately started building confidence and feeling peace and control. Little sister Gracelin always mothers Hannah but this fall she was allowed to participate in Sensory Trail riding alongside her big sister, Hannah. Sensory Trail allowed them to build a bond by both learning to independently ride out in nature and purely enjoying an activity together, something that rarely happens. The Althoff family is grateful that they have gained a farm family. The entire family has participated in community building program offered at Inspiration Stables; Coffee + Donuts @ the Barn and also a talk on Autism given by Hills and Dales Director, Laura Keehner. Inspiration Stables provided has love and support for the whole family. We are all in this together.
